Common questions about tinnitus
In most cases tinnitus is not a sign of a serious underlying condition. That said, it is always worth having it properly assessed, particularly if it is new, affects only one ear, or is accompanied by dizziness or hearing loss. Getting your tinnitus assessed means you can stop wondering and start understanding.
We allow 90 minutes for our Tinnitus consultation appointments. This gives your audiologist enough time to carry out all relevant tests and discuss your results with you properly, with plenty of time for you to ask any questions you have.
There is currently no single cure for tinnitus, but there are well-established approaches that can significantly reduce how much it affects you. These include sound therapy, hearing aids (when hearing loss is also present), and counselling-based techniques. Your assessment will determine which approaches are most likely to help in your specific case.
