More tips on looking after your hearing aids
Water
Resistant
Your hearing aids are water resistant but are probably not waterproof – while they should be fine if you get caught in the rain try to remember to take them out before swimming or showering! Before you put your hearing aids in, make sure your ears are dry.
Get
Ready First
Try not to get hair spray or make-up on your hearing aids – it’s normally sensible to wait until after you’ve finished getting ready before putting your hearing aids in.
Avoid
Sharp Objects
Don’t use sharp objects like needles or pins to clean your hearing aids, use the wax loop that came with your hearing aids instead.
Keep Them
To Yourself
Don’t let anyone else use your hearing aids, and don’t wear anyone else’s hearing aids either – your hearing aids are programmed to work specifically for your ears!
Avoid Strong
Cleaning Products
Don’t use strong cleaning products, such as alcohol wipes, on your hearing aids as this can damage them.
Avoid Hot
Temperatures
Don’t keep your hearing aids anywhere they will get too hot, like above a radiator.
Protect Them
Overnight
If your hearing aids use disposable batteries leave the compartment open overnight – this switches the hearing aid off and allows any moisture to dry out.
Keep Hearing Aids In
Charger When Not In Use
If you use rechargeable hearing aids keep the hearing aids in the charger whenever you aren’t using them.
